Three bonded layers has far more strength than either the sum of the individual layers or a single layer as thick as the three. Why? There's no longer one continuous path of least resistance through the comb. Instead, the weakest point in the grain of one layer is reinforced by the other layers.

Third comb!!

I can’t recommend this company enough! I think the comb is an incredible value. I use it for my long hair every day. I bought one for my husband, and now one for my brother-in-law because of my husband’s suggestion. The 2 combs we have had for about a year have held up wonderfully! Mike was kind enough to upgrade the free shipping to make sure I got the gift in time for Christmas. This is the best experience I have had with a company that I can remember.
